Bio

Beth MathesonBeth spent most of her childhood barefoot, climbing jungle trees, eating tropical fruit, and loving people who looked and sounded nothing like her.  She enjoyed life as the daughter of missionaries in the Philippines, but many of her experiences were large, deep, wild, and hard to understand.  Her days sometimes left her full of awe or a nameless aching.  So, at the age of 12, she pulled out an old electronic keyboard and began putting her feelings to song.

Life moved on, and her family returned to the U.S., but Beth took the habit of songwriting with her through high school and college, into marriage and the birth of her daughter.  She recorded a “just for fun” album in 2000 with her brother, John, and sister, Faith, which sold about 20 copies...  Listening to her “real” debut album, Any Given Time, is like having coffee with a good friend.  Beth’s creative, honest lyrics explore themes of God’s love, relationships, and learning to be comfortable in her own skin.

Beth lives in North Carolina with her amazing husband, Mike, and their daughter, Leigh, a fascinating second-grader and budding songwriter.  (Listen to “Like Paradise”, which she co-wrote with her mom!).  She and Mike work with Wycliffe Bible Translators, helping lead a ministry for teenage missionary kids and their families.  She thinks middle school girls (especially the ones in her Bible study) are pretty cool people, and in her spare time (ha!) she enjoys painting with watercolors or acrylics.
